Data released by the National Electricity System Operator (ONS) for the period January-July 2014 placed the wind farm of Colônia, in the state of Ceará, at the top of the accumulated capacity ranking, according to the website Energia Hoje. The list includes two other Queiroz Galvão Energias Renováveis’s wind farms: Taíba Andorinha and Taíba Águia, in the second and fifth places, respectively. The ranking considers 50 wind farms in commercial operation cleared by the ONS.
The Taíba Wind Power Complex, which includes the three wind farms mentioned in the article, started operating in test mode in March 2014 and has been operating commercially since June 2014. Located in the municipality of São Gonçalo do Amarante, the Taíba Wind Power Complex has 27 wind turbines and an installed capacity of 56.7 MW. For Max Xavier, the CEO of Queiroz Galvão Energia – energy holding company of the Queiroz Galvão Group – the result reflects the team’s professionalism and commitment. “Congratulations to all employees for the results. You overcame continuous challenges with determination and focus”, the CEO said.
In addition to Taíba, QGER has two other wind power complexes in Ceará, totaling 197.4 MW of installed capacity that generate clean, renewable energy. The company will have an installed capacity of 759.9 MW by the end of 2016, when the construction of three other wind power complexes – already underway – will be completed.
